Tonkatsu Rice Burger

Ingredients:


Rice Patties

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar

  • 2 cups short grained rice


Katsu

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup panko

  • 1 cup flour

  • Chicken breast or thin pork loin 

  • Japanese Mayo 

  • Katsu sauce

  • Shredded cabbage

  • 1 Tbsp Garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper


Directions:

  1. Cook short grained rice, while hot mix in sugar, salt, and rice vinegar.

  2. Lay the rice flat on a tray with Saran Wrap and flatten it with Saran Wrap on top and another tray, keep cool in the fridge.

  3. While that is cooling, pound pork loin to flatten, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  4. Dip in flour, egg wash and panko. Deep fry Tonkatsu until golden brown. Set aside.

  5. Take out rice tray and cut into circle shapes with a huge cookie cutter or anything to make the cut.

  6. Deep fry until golden brown.

  7. Assembly starting with rice patty, Katsu, Katsu sauce, mayo, shredded lettuce, more Katsu sauce, and top with another rice patty.
