Greed island pasta (Hunter x Hunter)


A hearty bowl of spaghetti straight out of the Hunter x Hunter universe — minus the life-or-death game. Loaded with savory ground beef, mushrooms, and rich tomato sauce, this dish is the ultimate EXP boost for any adventurer brave enough to enter the world of Greed Island. Gon and Killua would totally carb-load on this.

Ingredients:


Tomato sauce:

  • 1 small onion minced

  • 5 Roma tomatoes

  • 1 tsp salt 

  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil 


Meat sauce:

  • Tomato sauce from above

  • 1lb ground beef

  • 1 lb spaghetti 

  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms

  • Fresh basil

  • 2 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 small onion minced

  • 1 tbsp thyme

  • 1 tbsp of oregano

  • 1 tbsp crushed pepper

  • 1/2 cup red wine

  • Pinch of salt and pepper

  • 3 tbsp olive oil


Directions:


Tomato sauce

  1. Soak the tomatoes in a pot with hot boiling water for about 5 minutes to loosen the skins.

  2. After soaking, put in ice bath and peel the skins off the tomatoes.

  3. Chop the peeled tomatoes into piece.

  4. In a pan, heat a few tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat and sauté finely chopped onions until they become soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan with the onions, stirring to combine. Season with a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.

  6. Let the mixture simmer on medium heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down.

  7. Use a hand immersion blender to blend the pieces of transfer the mixture to a blender.


Meat sauce:

  1. In a large pan, heat up olive oil.

  2. Add minced onions and garlic, stir for a bit.

  3. Add salt and pepper and sauté until softened 

  4. Add ground beef and cook until brown

  5. Add mushrooms. 

  6. Sauté for a minute and pull a few on the side for presentation

  7. Add more salt and pepper 

  8. Add thyme, oregano, and red pepper flakes

  9. Stir and add tomato paste and cook for 5 minutes 

  10. Add red wine and cook for another 5 minutes

  11. Add tomato sauce and fresh basil

  12. Cook pasta el dente and serve on plate with sauce on top and mushrooms. Sprinkle over some chives
