Scotch Egg


A hard-boiled egg went undercover inside seasoned sausage and breadcrumbs, then dove headfirst into hot oil. The result? Crispy British picnic MVP.
A hard-boiled egg went undercover inside seasoned sausage and breadcrumbs, then dove headfirst into hot oil. The result? Crispy British picnic MVP.

Ingredients:


  • 1 lb sausage casings removed

  • Vegetable cooking oil

  • A pinch of ground nut meg

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup Panko

  • 1 cup flour

  • 6 eggs


Directions:

  1. Boil a pot of water and add in eggs and let them cook for exactly 6 minutes and shock it directly in ice cold water.

  2. Peel and dry eggs with paper towel.

  3. In a bowl, Mix Italian sausage ground meat, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and nutmeg.

  4. Flatten the ground meat on a piece of Saran Wrap and place soft boiled egg in the center and use the Saran Wrap to work the meat over to cover the egg until white is not seen.

  5. Coat in flour, egg, panko and deep fry until golden brown (around 4-7 minutes). Serve.
