Crunchy Spam musubi


Hawaii’s favorite snack just got a crispy makeover! This isn’t your average musubi — it’s wrapped, coated in potato starch, and deep-fried to golden glory. Imagine if Spam took a crunchy bath and came out wearing a tuxedo made of rice and swagger. Island comfort with extra crunch!
Hawaii’s favorite snack just got a crispy makeover! This isn’t your average musubi — it’s wrapped, coated in potato starch, and deep-fried to golden glory. Imagine if Spam took a crunchy bath and came out wearing a tuxedo made of rice and swagger. Island comfort with extra crunch!

Ingredients:


● Sushi rice 

● Seaweed 

● Furikake 

● Spam pork or Turkey 

● 1/4 cup Sugar 

● 1/4 cup Rice Vinegar 

● Spam cutter 

● Spam mold 

● Salt 

● 1 cup panko 

● 1 cup flour 

● 1 egg 

● 1/2 gallon veggie oil 

Sauce 

● 1/4 cup mirin 

● 1/4 cup Sesame oil 

● 1/2 cup brown sugar 

● 1/2 cup shoyu


Directions: 

1. Cook rice in a rice cooker and mix in sugar and vinegar and some furakake

2. For the sauce, mix all the sauce ingredients and simmer for a minute and set aside

3. Pan fry 1 can of spam and slice up to 8-10 slices 

4. Add sauce and simmer for minute. 

5. Either use a spam molder or the can to make Musubi 

6. For the mold, half a sheet of seaweed long ways on the bottom, put mold on top, add rice, then, spam and more rice 

7. Press and form shape and wrap the whole Musubi with seaweed. 

8. Refrigerate until harden maybe an hour. 

9. Slice however you want or not at all, coat with flour, then egg wash, and panko 10. Flash fry until golden brown, drizzle more of the sauce and serve.
