Chimi Dominicano (Chimi Burger)


The Dominican Republic’s answer to a cheat day. Grilled spiced meat, cabbage, mayo-ketchup, and crusty bread — messy, juicy, and wildly addictive. Bring napkins.

Ingredients:


Burger patty

  • 2 lbs of ground beef

  • 1 clove garlic

  • Pinch Salt

  • Pinch Black pepper

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 bell pepper

  • 1 large red onion


Chimi Sauce

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 1/2 cup mayo

  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/4 cup of orange juice

  • Shredded cabbage


For the chimi

  • Red onions cut into rings

  • 2 sliced tomatoes

  • 6 hamburger buns 


Plantain chips

  • Salt water

  • Plantain


Directions:


Chimi Sauce

  1. In a bowl, mix all sauces under chimi ingredients together and set aside.


Burger patty

  1. In a processor, blend in all ingredients under burger patty except ground meat.

  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef along with the blended ingredients.

  3. Shape into patties. And pan fry until fully cooked (5 minutes)

  4. Toast buns in the pan, layer burger with bun, burger patty, onions, tomatoes, shredded cabbage chimi sauce mixture and bun.


Plantain Chips

  1. Cut some green plantains and cut into 1 inch pieces and soak into lime salty water.

  2. Pat dry and deep fry at lower temperature 

  3. Take out and fatten and back to deep frying at a higher temperature. Serve.
