Apple Pie


A buttery crust, tender spiced apples, and the aroma of mom probably forgiving you. It’s classic Americana, the edible version of a cozy sweater and a fall playlist.

Ingredients:


Pie crust

  • 6 Tbsp ice cold water 

  • 2 sticks cold chopped butter

  • 2 1/2 cup AP flour

  • 1 Tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt


Filling

  • 1 egg for egg wash

  • 3 Tbsp AP flour

  • 6 peeled and cored thinly sliced Granny Smith apples

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 stick butter

  • 2 tsp cinnamon 

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar


Directions:


Pie Crust

  1. In a bowl, mix in flour, sugar, salt, 2 sticks of chopped up of cold butter.

  2. Mix with a dough blender,

  3. Add another cup of flour

  4. Mix and add cold water.

  5. Keep mixing until flour sticks together.

  6. Divide into 2 disks, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for half an hour.


Filling

  1. Melt a stick of butter, flour, water, sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until thick at low heat. Set Aside.

  2. Peel Granny smith apples and slice thinly and mix in a bowl with cinnamon and butter sauce.


Assembly:

  1. Take out the first dough disk and roll it out flat to fit into a pie pan.

  2. Add filling.

  3. Make laces with the other dough disc and lay the laces on top of the filling cover the pie.

  4. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Serve. Best with vanilla ice cream.
